Whoo! Finally! I've been working on this image on and off for the past week and now it is done!
So, a long, long time ago, back when I first got into the fandom, I had this idea of ponifying several horses from pop culture; namely Seabiscuit the famous racehorse, Bullseye from Toy Story, Black Beauty who is arguably the most popular horse in literature, and Pegasus the mythical winged horse the pegasi in the show are named after (specifically the Disney version).
I thought I'd revisit this idea and expanded upon the roster of equines I would add into this image and came up with a whopping 16 horses/zebras/mythical creatures... and one human, but we'll get back on that later.
So without further ado, here's a complete list of all the ponified Pop Culture Equines from left to right, up to down. I'm also listing the media sources I used as references when drawing these characters as some of them have had multiple incarnations over the years:
- Black Beauty (Black Beauty, 1877) - Quick Draw McGraw (The Quick Draw McGraw Show, 1959) - Rain and Spirit-Who-Could-Not-Be-Broken (Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron, 2002) - Pegasus (Hercules, 1997) - Altivo (The Road to El Dorado, 2000) - Maximus (Tangled, 2010) - Hidalgo (Hidalgo, 2004) - Lady Amalthea (The Last Unicorn, 1982) - Horace Horsecollar (The Plow Boy, 1929) - Bullseye (Toy Story 2, 1999) - Epona (The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, 1998) - Seabiscuit (Seabiscuit, 2003) - Joey (War Horse, 2011) - Marty (Madagascar, 2005) - Stripes (Racing Stripes, 2005), and finally - Sarah Jessica Parker (actress)
If you know all or at least most of these, you now know that horses have been invading your life since circa 1877.
Sorry, if you're offended by the last one. I had some extra space and I needed a "horse" that could stand up and just thought of that silly joke where people say she looks like a horse. I don't really have anything against her.
So, yeah. I toiled on this all for you, deviantART. I hope you appreciate my work.
Until the next piece, peace out!
EDIT: Looks like you'll have to download this to see the thing in its actual size.
Not a brony (and I don't like bronies), but it was hilarious as hell that you added Sarah Jessica Parker to the image because she IS a horse lolololololololololololol
too bad it's impossible to pony her because she already IS a horse lolololololol

But awesome job nonetheless
